Oh, I am so glad I found this! Mine did the same thing, poofed up HUGE the second day, then appeared to have died. So after five days I tossed it and started over. Same thing happened! I have more whole wheat flour on hand than unbleached, so I will feed it with that, following the 113 grams of starter, and 57 grams each of flour and water, and see if it revives. It does develop a few bubbles, but doesn't rise at all. I am on day 5 now (again), but will remain patient, and hope it comes alive again. That one day it was alive, it was SO ALIVE, so spongy and tangy! Really cool! Speaking of cool my house is rather warm most of the time between 75 and 80 degrees. Is that too warm?
I seem to be buying a lot of flour for this endeavor, and have yet to produce any bread.
