Hi Erica, I'm sorry it's taken so long for me to respond to your question! I doubt the baked dough would cause anyone to become ill, since baking should kill off any harmful bacteria. However, the pink/orange crust may not bode well for your starter. I don't know how much time/flour you have invested in your starter so far, but my inclination would be to start over. That being said, if you continued feeding and your starter rebounded and is rising well, and has shown no furthur incidences of the pink/orange hue, then it's most likely fine to continue with it.
