Hi! Is the smell of my sourdough starter normal? I mixed whole wheat flour and water as per KA recipe. After 24hrs there were a lot of bubbles! I proceeded as per the recipe. Today is the day 3 and the starter looks great, I think, - lots of bubbles - but what is giving me some concern is the smell. The recipe says fresh and fruity smell and while I am able to smell hints of fresh and fruity, I would describe the overall smell as (quite) unpleasant. I had two other people who live with me smell it and they thought it was (quite) unpleasant. I don't see any orange or pink streaks. I did keep the starter next to the fridge for some additional ambient heat - but maybe it was too warm? Could this have made it go bad?
