I'm not John, but I'm in a similar position. I started mine on the 11th with great activity. The first feeding, it doubled and rose. Every feeding after that, it's pretty much stayed the same height, though there is presence of some bubbling and there is always some liquid on top when I check it every 12 hours. The first recipe I was using called for measuring by cups, so 1/2 cup starter, 1 cup flour and 3/4 cup water. I switch to another recipe that had grams, since that's what I was mostly using anyway that called for 70g starter, 200g flour, 200g water (these are doubled measurements because I started with a lot more starter than they did). It seems like there is no activity now and it has kind of lost the sour cream/yogurt smell it had earlier this week. Should I keep feeding it and hope it eventually doubles? I've been feeding it every 12 hours instead of 24, but I'm unsure if that's working as well. I keep it in the oven, sometimes with the light on, to ensure that it's pretty warm, so I think I've created a perfect environment for it.
