Thanks for all of this great info while many of us are trying sourdough for the first time. I've read through some of the problems people have and the advice you give, but am still not sure what to do. I have followed the KA starter instructions exactly. Starting on day three I've been doing 4 oz. starter, 4 oz all purp flour and 1/2 cup of lukewarm water. It sits for 12 hours and I repeat the process. Now on day 10 and all I get are a few unimpressive looking bubbles. The starter has a slight sourdough odor but I am not getting any increase in size at all. It just stays the same after every 12 hours. It is sitting in a room with a temp of approx 68 degrees in a 1 quart plastic container with the lid sitting loosely on top. Any advice on what my be wrong or how to get this moving along? I've gone through an entire 5 lb. bag of flour so far. Thanks for any advice!
