Hi Jordan, I wouldn't worry too much if your starter doesn't have quite the aroma you're used to, but if it's not bubbling and rising, please give us a call at 855-371-2253 and we'll be glad to troubleshoot and send you a new starter if necessary. A brief freeze shouldn't cause your starter any permanent harm, but if it's not working for you then we will happily replace it. Barb
