Hi there, great information. To be clear - Ive starved my quite mature starter for about a month. It has a layer of grey sludge and a grey stain graduates down into the starter itself. I understand you mention the grey slurry isn't a problem necessarily. I just don't wish to poison my family at Christmas. I appreiate your advice
