Hi, I'm wondering if your starter was frozen solid, or just dried out to a solid consistency? There's a chance that the boiling water may have killed off some of the wild yeast, but I think it's still worth a try feeding it at room temperature for a day or two to try to activate it. If you have a stand mixer, try breaking up the solid starter using the paddle attachment on the lowest speed, adding enough water to bring it to a thick, pasty consistency. Once you've achieved this consistency, feed your starter once in the morning and once in the evening and leave it at room temperature throughout the process. To be sure your starter doesn't solidify in the future, cover it well with plastic wrap, and feed it 4 ounces (1/2 cup) starter + 4 ounces (1/2 cup) water + 4 ounces (1 scant cup) unbleached all-purpose flour. I'm guessing after a few days of this feeding regimen, your starter will be back in action. Barb
