Sounds good! I also figured out that the weather may have affected it as well. Here in Ohio our temps went from 70 degrees to 30 degrees almost overnight and that's the same time I was attempting to change the consistency of the starter. I did as you said in your message and then set it on a stove on the warm setting and it is now responding nicely and starting to come back.
