our oven light is broken, but I put it in the microwave with a small warm rock. didn't turn the microwave on, obviously, but it created enough heat for the starter overnight. as you all know, living in New England, the nights are cold and we try to save energy by keeping the heat low at night. the starter looks more like the photo now!
