While we encourage you to explore many culinary possibilities and we always say, "there's no baking police," we wouldn't recommend covering this cake with fondant. If you'd like to use just the buttercream to cover another cake with frosting followed by fondant, you're welcome to give it a go noting that this chocolate buttercream is rich. Usually, fondant is best when paired with something that's less assertive and less sweet so together it's not cloying. However, as we mentioned you're welcome to give it a shot if your taste buds are calling for it. This frosting is soft, so consider chilling your cake before applying the fondant if you choose to take this route. Happy baking! Kye@KAF
