I use a combination of Crisco and a tablespoon of butter. I also butter the glass pie plate I bake them in. I cut with a sharp edge cutter. however I than take the dough in between my palms and compress the dough and spin it between my two hands gradually moving my hands outward. The biscuits are light, high and delicious.
