Hello, I have always wanted to make a fruit cake. My husband wants me to make his moms recipe that does not call for baking just combining ingredients and refrigerating. I am afraid it will be dry. I want to try your recipe first and see what he thinks. One comment made was that her cake was a little dry because she over baked it but she solved her problem by submerging it is alcohol or dowsing it in alcohol. If I end up making both your recipe and my mother in-laws recipe which is the freezer box recipe can I submerge the freezer box cake in the alcohol also? And if so would you place the cakes back into the pans they were cooked or molded in before adding the alcohol so it does not fall apart to sit for a few days? Another question - if you are not allowed to have alcohol can you submerge the fruit cakes into the orange juice, sugar glaze? Thank you.
