The absolute best rum cake. I've made this a dozen times for the holidays and people are falling over themselves with how spectacular it is. My tweaks: use butterscotch pudding mix if available, spiced rum (Captain Morgan's, Sailor Jerry's, etc), regular flour instead of almond flour for coating the pan (nut allergies), and after syrup is done reducing, add a quarter cup of rum for a slight alcoholic/boozy aspect (I hang with an all-adult crowd, don't add more rum if planning on serving to kids because it's too strongly flavored for them).
