I have made this cake for years, but I use my favorite brand of Cream Sherry to replace the rum. It is wonderful. I love the taste and the smell. I also sometimes make a little extra syrup and save some to drizzle over the top after I invert the cake. I have also made this cake from scratch, but there is just something about the box cake that is better. Maybe it’s the pudding. Either way there are no complaints from the people who eat them.
