Ann, the sprinkled topping on the star in the photo is confectioners' sugar (also known as powdered sugar). You could certainly drizzle your star with glaze if you want, but it might cover up some of the decorative elements, if that's something that you're concerned about. We've seen it done that way (by someone who won a blue ribbon at their local fair, no less!) and it looked delicious. Happy baking! Kat@Kaf
