Hi Cindy, I'm generally cautious about adding an autolyse to a rye bread recipe that includes a significant percentage of rye flour because rye flour doesn't develop gluten in the same way wheat flour does and doesn't generally benefit from an extended bulk fermentation. This can mean that adding an autolyse isn't always helpful. However, I'm very glad to hear it worked well for your rye bread recipe!
