Let the apple filling cool slightly before adding it to the bottom crust, Valerie. It doesn't need to be room temperature, but it also shouldn't be scorching hot, otherwise, it might start to melt the butter in the crust before it gets into the oven. Let it rest for about 5 to 10 minutes, stirring intermittently before using it. Happy pie baking! Kye@KAF
