Hi Alta. It might take some trial and error, but we have a feeling that baking in a cold Dutch oven will be less likely to burn the bottom of your loaf. If you want to try baking in a hot Dutch oven, try wrapping the bottom in foil before heating it. The foil will reflect some of the heat so it doesn't get quite as hot. Annabelle@KAF
