Hi Sharon, you might want to consider trying a different recipe if this one is causing so many issues. It does sound like an excessive amount of honey, which has got to make for a good deal of stickiness, no matter what methods you use. This challah recipe gets great reviews. If you'd prefer using honey instead of the sugar called for in this recipe, try substituting 1/4 cup of honey for the 1/3 cup of sugar.
