Wayne, we're sorry to hear that you found kneading wet dough by hand so messy and challenging! It's definitely not easy, or for everyone. You can still get excellent results when using a mixer, so if you have one available to you, by all means take advantage of it the next time you want to tackle a wet dough. Barb
