If you are a UK reader, make sure you read to the end. The example cake given has a very high percentage of sugar compared to classic british cake recipes which generally contain equal quantities of flour and sugar (or slightly less) by weight. This doesn't mean you can't reduce the sugar but you might want to reduce more gradually.
