While baking the layers today of KAF's classic birthday cake, I learned an important life lesson. [Context: I am a graduate of two famous universities.] I'm retired and am enjoying getting into baking. I read the recipe carefully several times and proceeded to bake two 9" layers, both gracefully sloping down to half their thickness in the middle. Damn. What could have gone wrong? Everything was clearly explained in the excellent video. The lesson: Watch the video BEFORE starting, not AFTER.
