Hi Robin! Since almond flour doesn't have gluten, baking powder doesn't help it rise all that much since it can't bond together and stretch out like gluten can. Generally, you will see recipes that are 100% almond flour using egg whites as a leavening agent in order to both bind it and allow it to rise. Happy baking!
