Anne, I also had that problem but luckily it was one I don't use much. However I did feel bad for 'ruining' it so dug around in the shed for an alternative; what I now use is an old metal box we used to use in the smoker for holding the wood chips (they sell them at any decent hardware store in the grilling section). It does leak though, so I lined it was 3 layers of heavy duty foil that can easily be replaced as needed. The added bonus is that as my oven is about 6 inches wider than my baking stone I can place my 'steam box' on the same shelf and am getting better results because the steam is not being hindered by the stone.
