Hi Michael, if you're preheating your Dutch oven at 500°F, you might consider reducing the temperature to 475°F, and then baking at 450°F. I also find using parchment paper beneath the loaf in the Dutch oven can help with this. You might also consider trying our Round Loaf Lifter helpful in this regard.
