Hi Jan, for slices, toasting might do the trick, but if you'd like to freshen up a whole loaf (or even a part of a loaf) you could put it in a 350F oven (right on the rack) for about 15 minutes, or until thoroughly warmed. This should make the crust crisper, but may not totally erase a tough, chewy crust. Be sure when you bake your loaves in a Dutch oven that you take the lid off about halfway through the bake. Leaving the lid on throughout the bake can result in a thicker, tougher crust.
