We'd be wary of preheating your Dutch oven or baking with it at high temperatures if you're unsure of how hardy it is. You're welcome to engage in a bit of trial by fire (literally) if you like, but you run the risk of it breaking at these hot temperatures. You might instead what to try starting your bread in a cold oven, as described in this article on our blog. It tends to be more gentle and there's less of a chance that your pot will break.
