Hi Diana, the cloche is a great vessel for making bread, but it isn't designed to be preheated empty. It can be placed in a warm oven or in a cold oven (with the dough in it), up to 500 degrees F. Leaving the lid on to cover your dough will help capture steam. Give it a shot using the No-Knead Crusty White Bread recipe and the method shown here--just skip the preheating step.
