Cathern, a removeable bottom can make it easier to remove your cake from the pan. You can even use a thin knife to separate the bottom of the cake from the base of the pan, if necessary. This can be trickier if done in a pan without a removeable bottom. That being said, it sounds like you haven't had any trouble thus far in your baking, so feel free to carry on as you have been.
