Good question, Donna. We get this one a lot, so we've actually written a whole blog article about it, which you can read here. The short answer is that a standard cake recipe like this usually makes about 6 cups of batter and will fit in a Bundt pan, 9"x13" pan or 2 round cake pans. While it seems that any recipe that fits in a 9"x13" pan should require doubling to fill a 13" x 18" pan, the depth of a 13" x 18" sheet pan is less than that of a 9" x 13" pan, so 1.5x the recipe is more accurate.
