My mother, from Milwaukee, used to make this recipe but called it Danish Puff. I remember that it was simpler, only a powdered sugar drizzle on top flavored with almond extract and some thin slices of almonds. It was exquisite. Btw, we grew up on Kringle from Racine. This recipe could hold its own!
