Check online and you'll find many articles on the research, many too are from the AHA journal. One article printed the following, but there are many more, you can check into:
"Most shortenings are already free of trans fats, and they are now made with a combination of fully hydrogenated palm oil and soybean oil. When oils are fully hydrogenated, they are completely changed from unsaturated fats to saturated fats, so no trans fats are produced."
Good to see many folks are interested in healthy ingredients and love cooking, and so are interested in researching the substitutes to keep both health and flavor in their products!!
