Hi Lisa. We've used it in some things and found that it did a decent job, but definitely wasn't the same as real butter. If butter is a main ingredient, like in shortbread or croissants, we'd recommend sticking with real butter. But if it's in another kind of cookie or cake etc., the butter flavored Crisco works just fine. Happy experimenting! Annabelle@KAF
