Interesting article - I have been making piecrust for 56 1/2 years with a pastry blender, flour, Crisco, salt and water, my mother's recipe. While I have a stand mixer, I rarely use it, but I am intrigued by the method for piecrust with the stand mixer. I plan to try the recipe with the mixer for my spring strawberry rhubarb pie. Also, this past Thanksgiving I made my apple pies and pumpkin pies in 13 x 9 baking dishes, slab style, with King Arthur flour apple pie spice mix and pumpkin pie spice mix...they were the best ever -- best flavors and easiest serving style! Never too old to try something new!
