I've never baked a pie, but this year I'm bound & determined I'm going to try and duplicate my mom's pumpkin pie. While she always used a pastry blender (and always King Arthur flour), I'm going to try the Kitchenaid. Her secret ingredient for a nutty crust was adding wheat germ. I have to experiment though, because I can't remember whether it was 1 tsp or 1 tbsp. per cup of flour.
