Fantastic article! I would like to try a few things read here, such as blending with shortening first. This article caught my attention because my favorite pie crust calls for using a mixer (from The Mixer Bible) - it's an all butter crust, and can be quite flaky and tender - it all depends on not mixing it too far - keeping those nice chunks like you said.
