We had an old Macintosh tree in the rear of our acre plus yard when we moved into our home. I made the best apple pies from these apples!! We didn’t mind the somewhat applesauce like texture in the filling as there were enough chunks of soft apple to please. That tree is long gone as we have lived here 50 years. I find it difficult to duplicate that wonderful apple flavor, even with today’s Macintosh apples.
