MaryJane...The Wolf River apple was found on the shores of the Wolf River in 1875 in Wisconsin. You truly only need 2 apples for a very full pie. They are HUGE. They hold there shape in a pie are also terrific for sauce. They are very frost hardy, store very well, and are very disease resistant. They are quite hard to find, but I have been told several orchards have been known to have them. If I can find them, I would love to mail you two of them. I used to work with a gal that had a tree in her yard. I went every year to pick them and they were good in my cool basement until March. The tree has since died. Do you have an apple peeler/corer? They work great. My sister and I also use for peeling potatoes for canning. We can a 50# bag every year. We also can about 25 other things. At the Warrens cranberry fest held in late September there is one vender who sells them, and we always rushed to buy them there before they sold out. I can no longer go to that fest because it is alot of walking, and my hip issues won't allow it.
