I've used Golden Delicious apples in my pies for years, but they're hard to find now. There are so many new varieties out there, but I live in a small town and they only carry "typical" apples. I guess I'll have to try a honeycrisp this year. Oh, by the way, Julia Child liked the Golden Delicious for pies too. Granny Smith's are too hard for me.
