I love the Gravensteins; they are beautiful as well as having a wonderful flavor. I live on the East Coast now and have never seen a Gravenstein here. I use Stayman-Winesaps from my local orchard. It's also hard to find but a wonderful sweet-tart apple flavor that bakes and keeps well. Thanks for the memory.
