My mother-in-law was born and raised in Rutland, VT. She taught me how to make an apple pie when I was first married. Her preference was MacIntosh Apples. I know that she would go apple picking for the Mac. I live in AZ so it is very hard to fine them in the store. Usually they come from Canada, but some years I can find the New York Mac's. I buy as many as I can, so I can make them initially from Thanksgiving and then hopefully I have enough for Christmas pies. I make a pie for my brother-in-law for Christmas every year. He actually hides the pie from everyone. It is his Christmas gift from me.

I can not buy a store bought apple pie, because they are always a big disappointment. My story.
