Hi, the best apple for pies, hands down, is the Rome apple. It has become more difficult to get in our area the past few years. It used to be available wherever apples were sold. Now here, we can only get them at one orchard, no grocery stores and only for a certain window. They have perfect texture and flavour for pies, muffins, etc.
