I appreciate your comment that not everyone has the same preference or opinion on what makes the best apple for pies. I grew up with pies made with McIntosh so that's what I have stayed with. My pies get people into bidding wars at our annual church silent auctions. I agree that macs don't hold their shape as well as other apples (unless they're sliced in bigger pieces), but people at my church don't mind. 😀
