I like Winesap Apples, if I can find them. Texture is similar to Northern Spy. Flavor has a bit more "tang." Often you will see a pinkish hue to the apple flesh. They do not keep well. Could be why they are hard to find. Good eating apple also. Northern Spy and Granny Smith are my next favorite.
