Thanks for offering this helpful suggestion, Ting! I would add that spreading the cinnamon roll dough with soft butter may be causing more moisture leakage, and also causing the rolls to separate around the filling more than is desirable. When you're getting a lot of filling leakage sprinkling a filling like the one recommended in this recipe, without spreading butter on the dough first, may work better for you.
