Wow, that does sound like a delicious treat that would be worth jumping out of bed for in the morning. It also sounds like your Auntie made something similar to a strudel dough. It's known for it's delicious layered texture and buttery flavor. While we don't currently have a recipe for strudel posted on our website, we did have a short story and recipe featured in a past issue of the Baking Sheet.
