I have fond memories of both my mother and my Danish grandmother making a similar pastry that they called Danish Puff. It is simple to prepare and even though it looks like it was very involved, it is not, but go ahead and accept the praise you will receive. It is also delicious!
I do have the recipe we use but it is home in VT and I am visiting family on the west coast for the holidays and while I cannot remember the exact recipe it is very similar to this one and also prepared in the same manner with the two layers.
And now that I have read this wonderful recipe I am going to use it to prepare a Puff Pastry for our holiday breakfast here in California.
