I've made these cookies according to the recipe and they're beautiful and delicious! Tonight, I decided to make them but had only 2 Tablespoons of butter, so I subbed 1 T Coconut oil. The cookies spread out and went flat. They're still very good, but the butter also tames the sweetness of the confectioner's sugar. I'm just sharing my experience with substitutions.
