Thanks, PJ, for this timely reminder! I am getting back into baking again, and these have been one of my favorite cookies. I use lard instead of shortening -- otherwise using your standard recipe -- and did some test cookies, baking in a smaller convection oven (instead of Grandma's 1920s Westwood) and saw that I needed to keep the baking time to about 12 minutes, which is shorter than what I recall while using the old Westwood, which I believe had been 23 minutes.
